وكان زلزال قوي قد ضرب في 2008 سيشوان الذي يعد واحدا من اكثر الاقاليم اكتظاظا بالسكان، ما ادى الى سقوط حوالى سبعين الف قتيل وفقدان 18 الفا آخرين.

 

قوة الزلزال على مقياس ريختر كانت 6.6  درجة.
