The storm was accompanied by heavy rain, snow, and strong winds, causing widespread traffic disruption and power outages in some areas.

This event is considered one of the rarest recorded snowfalls in the region in several years, especially in the city of Armidale, which has not seen snowfall of this magnitude for a long time, nearly 10 years.

This weather disturbance is attributed to the influx of a cold polar air mass, coupled with deep low-pressure activity in various layers of the atmosphere. These conditions typically lead to the formation of strong weather systems that affect the southern and eastern parts of the Australian continent during the winter.
