Arab Weather - The latest outputs of numerical computer simulation models in Arab Weather indicate that Jordan will be affected, God willing, starting from the late hours of Monday/Tuesday night by a new low-pressure system classified as third degree (highly effective), accompanied by a very cold air mass of polar origins.

This low pressure system is expected to cause a noticeable drop in temperatures, with the return of very heavy rainfall in the north and center of the Kingdom, which increases the risk of valleys overflowing, flash floods forming, and rising water levels, in addition to the possibility of soil and rock erosion, especially after the ground became saturated with rainwater during the previous period.

The weather will be generally stable and sunny on Sunday, with a slight rise in temperatures compared to previous days, although it will remain cool overall, especially over the high mountain peaks. Winds will be moderate, southerly to southeasterly, occasionally becoming brisk and increasing the feeling of cold.

The weather will remain cold and relatively stable in most areas, a temporary stability before the Kingdom is affected by a low-pressure system overnight. During the day, scattered clouds will appear, with a gradual increase in wind speed, becoming moderate to brisk southwesterly.

Monday night/Tuesday morning: The low-pressure system begins to affect the region, with a rain front crossing from the north and strong winds in other areas.

Late on Monday/Tuesday night, the Kingdom will begin to be gradually affected by the low-pressure system accompanied by a very cold air mass, with temperatures dropping significantly and the weather becoming cold to very cold, and wind speeds becoming noticeably stronger in most areas, accompanied by very strong gusts.

A rain front will cross the country, starting in the north and bringing rain first, before extending to the central regions, including the capital Amman and Balqa, by dawn. The rain will be heavy, accompanied by hail, lightning, and thunder, leading to flash floods and a significant rise in water levels on roads.

In the south of the Kingdom, very cold and stormy weather prevails due to the high wind speeds, with a slight chance of scattered rain in some areas.

Tuesday, January 13: Peak of the low-pressure system (heavy rain and stormy winds)

On Tuesday, the Kingdom will be under the direct influence of a third-degree low-pressure system, with a further drop in temperatures and very cold, cloudy, and rainy weather in the north and center of the Kingdom, extending to parts of the governorates of Madaba and Karak.

The rains will be heavy, and may be accompanied by heavy showers of hail, especially over the mountainous highlands, and possibly lightning and thunder, which greatly increases the risk of flash floods and overflowing valleys and streams.

Intermittent snow showers are also possible over the high peaks of the southern mountain ranges (the Sharah Mountains).

Strong southwesterly to westerly winds are blowing across the Kingdom, with severe storm gusts, particularly in the south and east of the Kingdom, leading to the stirring up of dense dust in the southern and eastern desert regions, including the Baghdad International Road and the Trebil border crossing.

Wind speeds will increase significantly over the southern highlands, becoming very strong with gusts that may reach or exceed 100 km/h, especially over the peaks of the Sharah Mountains, while they will be active to strong in the rest of the regions.

Wednesday, January 14: The low pressure system moves away, but the weather remains cold.

On Wednesday, the low-pressure system will move away from the Kingdom, but cold and humid air currents will remain influential, and cold weather will prevail in general, with clouds continuing to appear at different altitudes. There will be continued chances of scattered showers in parts of the north and center of the Kingdom and some southern highlands.
