The Ministry of Environment is carrying out a comprehensive clean-up campaign in the King Talal Dam area following the detection of pollution on the dam's banks.

Arab Weather - As part of the executive program for the strategy of cleanliness and reducing random dumping of waste, and in order to promote the principle of partnership with citizens and those interested in environmental affairs, the Ministry of Environment carried out a comprehensive cleaning campaign in the King Talal Dam area, with the participation of the Minister of Environment, Dr. Ayman Suleiman, and a number of official and community bodies, following the monitoring of pollution in the vicinity of the dam by the environmental activist and colleague Omar Al-Dajani from Arab Weather.

This campaign came after our colleague Omar Al-Dajani from Arab Weather, an environmental activist, documented the manifestations of pollution and the accumulation of waste on the banks of the King Talal Dam, which prompted action from the Ministry of Environment staff, who thankfully provided the necessary staff and equipment to carry out a comprehensive field campaign to remove the accumulated waste on the sides of the dam and reduce the phenomenon of random dumping.

Minister of Environment Dr. Ayman Suleiman stressed the importance of strengthening the effective partnership between the Ministry of Environment, relevant authorities and the local community, stressing that protecting natural resources is a shared national responsibility that requires concerted efforts, intensified awareness and monitoring campaigns to reduce negative behaviors affecting the environment, and to preserve environmental sites of environmental, water and tourism importance.

The campaign aimed to remove accumulated waste and preserve the ecosystem around the dam, given its water, environmental and tourism importance, in addition to reducing negative practices that affect the safety of the environment and the quality of natural resources.

This campaign is part of a series of activities implemented by the Ministry of Environment in various regions of the Kingdom, in line with the national plans of the executive program to reduce random dumping of waste, which aims to involve various segments of society in supporting national efforts to protect the environment, and to encourage them to adopt positive practices that reflect on improving the quality of life and promoting environmental sustainability.

The campaign was attended by staff from the Ministry of Environment, the Governorate of Jerash, the Municipality of Burma, the King Talal Dam Administration/Jordan Valley Authority, the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, and the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, along with a number of activists and volunteers in the field of environmental protection, within the framework of strengthening community partnership and consolidating the principle of shared responsibility, and activating the role of citizens and members of the local community in maintaining the cleanliness of public places and the civilized appearance.
