Summer rains to affect Arab countries at the end of June

Arab Weather - The latest weather forecasts from Arab Weather indicate the possibility of humid tropical currents flowing towards parts of the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula, including areas of the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, by the end of June.

An eastern wave affects the Sultanate of Oman and the UAE.

Arab Weather forecasters said that weather maps indicate the possibility of a humid easterly wave advancing from the Arabian Sea toward the Sultanate of Oman during the final days of June, accompanied by an influx of humid currents that will help form cumulus clouds and bring rainfall to some areas.

Some numerical models also indicate the possibility of the easterly wave deepening later in parts of the UAE and perhaps the far southeast of Saudi Arabia, accompanied by rainfall that may sometimes be accompanied by thunder.

Are these summer rains rare at this time?

The expected rainfall at the end of the month is not uncommon, especially in the Sultanate of Oman and the UAE. It is typical for this time of year and is considered a seasonal rain, known locally as "rawayh" (sunset rain). It is caused by the advance of moist air currents coming from the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea, moving from east to west in the form of low-pressure waves.

These waves sometimes contribute to the formation of fog and low clouds, and significantly increase humidity levels in coastal areas. Cumulus clouds sometimes develop when the humid current collides with the Al Hajar Mountains, which contributes to heavy rainfall.
