The heat dome intensifies over the Maghreb. What impact will this have on the Levant?
Arab Weather - The latest weather analyses indicate that a severe heat dome is expected to develop over large areas of Morocco and western Algeria in the coming days, contributing to a significant and tangible rise in temperatures in those regions.
In contrast, this heat dome is countered by the rush of cooler maritime air currents towards the Levant, including Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine.
Weather details in the Levant (from Monday to Wednesday):
The region is experiencing normal summer weather, with temperatures around or slightly above their usual average during the day, with relatively hot weather, while the weather is pleasant and refreshing at night, especially over the highlands. This is accompanied by noticeable activity in the movement of westerly to northwesterly winds, which are sometimes accompanied by strong gusts. Therefore, we note that the risk of the intensification and expansion of fires in Syria increases exponentially with the increase in wind speed in the coming days.
Temperatures to rise over the weekend
A warmer air mass is expected to approach the region later this week, leading to higher temperatures. However, its effects will remain limited and it is not classified as a heat wave, thank God.
And God knows best.
