Jordan: A slow-moving cold front is crossing the north (heavy rain and chances of thunder) and will extend to the central and southern regions later.

Arab Weather App - The latest satellite images in Arab Weather indicate the beginning of the passage of a slow-moving cold front through the northern governorates of the Kingdom, specifically Irbid and Ajloun, reaching Jerash, in addition to the northern Jordan Valley region, where rain of varying intensity will fall, becoming heavy in the coming time and possibly accompanied by thunder, lightning and local hail showers, which will lead to the formation of torrents, the flow of valleys and streams and the occurrence of water accumulations.

The impact of the low-pressure system will gradually intensify on Thursday evening and night/Friday morning, as the same highly effective cold front, characterized by its slow movement, crosses towards the central region, including (the capital Amman, Balqa, and parts of Zarqa Governorate). Heavy rain is expected, with chances of lightning, thunder, and hail, leading to:

• Extremely large flow of valleys and reefs
• Flash floods and torrential rains, including in the northern and central Jordan Valley.
• Large water accumulations on roads
• There may be soil and rock erosion.

The cold front will reach the south of the Kingdom during the late night hours and early morning hours of Friday.

The effects of the cold front will reach Madaba as the night progresses and will extend successively to the governorates of Karak, Tafila, the Southern Ghor and the Dead Sea, where heavy rain is expected at times, especially in the late night hours and dawn on Friday, raising again the risk of flash floods and soil and rock erosion in the affected areas.
