Zarqa breaks its heat record for more than a century
Arab Weather - The Zarqa station, affiliated with the Jordan Meteorological Department, recorded the highest maximum temperature in its history on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, since climate records began more than 100 years ago, reaching 44.8 degrees Celsius.
This number breaks the previous record of 44.6 degrees Celsius, which was recorded on August 20, 2010, and August 13, 2023, according to what was documented by the Meteorological Department at the Jordan Climate Bank, affiliated with the Meteorological Department.
With this climate achievement, according to the Meteorological Department, Zarqa officially enters the list of cities that have broken their own records, becoming the first city this year to set a new record, amid the ongoing heat wave affecting the Kingdom.
As the heat wave continues, we are likely to witness further record-breaking events, setting Jordan's climate records on the cusp of further historic updates.
