Iraq - update at 1:30 pm | Strong dust waves affect many areas and are expected to continue for the rest of the day

Arab Weather - The latest satellite images developed by the Arab Regional Weather Center indicate that many northern regions, including Mosul, all the way to the central regions, including the capital, Baghdad, and the extension of the southern regions, specifically Najaf, were affected by strong waves of dust that lead to a significant decrease in the range of horizontal visibility in the meantime.

The horizontal visibility is only about 700 meters in the capital, Baghdad, and about 500 meters in the southern region.

According to the outputs of the numerical models, it is expected that dust waves will continue to be active during the remainder of the day and during the evening and night hours over many regions, especially the northeastern and the far southern regions, which leads to the continued low range of horizontal visibility.

Under the weather conditions, the Arab Weather website advises:

• Be aware of the risk of reduced horizontal visibility due to the density of dust
• Close windows tightly to prevent dust from entering homes
• Take the necessary precautions for patients with respiratory system and eyes
• Wearing medical masks to reduce inhalation of dust and dirt stuck in the parts.
