The latest weather updates indicate that temperatures will continue to rise gradually, peaking at the end of this week and the beginning of next week, when they are expected to approach 50 degrees Celsius in the capital, Baghdad, and may even exceed that mark in some central and southern regions.

The heat wave is affecting all parts of Iraq, including the northern governorates, but it is most severe in the central and southern regions, such as Baghdad, Babil, Wasit, Najaf, Karbala, Dhi Qar, and Basra, with scorching temperatures.

Important recommendations for dealing with extremely hot weather:

Avoid going out during peak daytime hours (between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.).

Drink plenty of fluids and avoid drinks that lead to dehydration, such as soft drinks and sugary drinks.
