The first half of June 2025 is significantly cooler than last year. Will the heat of summer return in the second half?

Arab Weather - As the first half of June drew to a close, the Kingdom was largely unaffected by any heat waves, with summer air masses typical for this time of year dominating the Kingdom's atmosphere. Despite temperatures rising above average on some days of the month, the weather systems affecting the Kingdom did not rise to the level of a heat wave.

Unlike last year, specifically the first half of June 2024, when the Kingdom was affected by more than one heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in the capital, Amman, and many other regions of the Kingdom, the King Hussein International Airport monitoring station in Aqaba recorded the highest maximum temperature in the Kingdom, reaching 47.8 degrees Celsius on June 14, 2024.

Going back further into the climate archive, we find that the Kingdom experienced two heat waves during June 2024. The first was from June 2-8, 2024, and lasted for seven days. The second wave was from June 12-20, 2024, and lasted for nine days. This is the longest heat wave the Kingdom has witnessed during the current month of June 2024.

Forecasts for the second half of June 2025

Initial forecasts from Arab Weather indicate that the second half of June will be similar to the first half, according to long-range maps. These maps show that weather systems will continue to dominate the northern hemisphere, keeping heat waves away from the Kingdom. There are also indications that a high-pressure system will advance toward the region at certain times, which means occasional temperature spikes.
