و قد تشكلت بحسب الخبراء ، حُفرة انهدامية (بالوعة) أسفل البحيرة، مما أدى إلى اختفاء البحيرة و كل ما فيها من شجيرات و أسماك، تاركة وراءها حفرة غامضة بكل معنى الكلمة.
