Al-Khasawneh indicated, during his interview with Ammon, that the Fatwa Department held many sessions with astronomers and the Arab calendar prior to announcing Wednesday, the beginning of Sha`ban. "There is no vision in Jordan, Egypt, or even Saudi Arabia."

He stressed that this has nothing to do with Jordan's disagreement with Saudi Arabia and Egypt in the blessed month of Ramadan.

He noted that the Fatwa Department follows the scientific and astronomical aspects in monitoring the sighting of the crescent, "We fast with Saudi Arabia and Egypt with some that depend on the vision and come at its time, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, decided the matter (fast to see it and break the fast to see it)."

He reaffirmed that the sighting of the crescent of the month of Sha'ban "even half a percent" was not proven, noting that astronomers indicated that there was no sighting. So science and astronomy agreed that there is no vision.
