Irvine and fellow British climber George Mallory went missing while attempting to summit Everest in June of that year, just 240 metres from the summit, in their attempt to complete the first documented ascent of the world's highest mountain.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> In 1999, George Mallory's body was found, but Irvine's body remained missing, as did their camera.
