Weather update: Rain and hail showers in Irbid, Ajloun, and Jerash, and starting to fall on the capital Amman, intensifying to become very heavy in the coming hours.

Arab Weather - The latest satellite images show the continued flow of large amounts of rain clouds towards the northern parts of the Kingdom, where these areas are witnessing heavy rainfall at times, accompanied by hail showers, including Irbid, Ajloun and Jerash, and extending to the Deir Alla area in the central Jordan Valley in the Balqa Governorate. Rain showers also began a short while ago on parts of the capital Amman.

The cold front is expected to gradually reach the central regions, accompanied by very heavy and continuous rainfall that will lead to strong flash floods, large flow of valleys, and a rise in water levels in wide areas. This rain will also be accompanied by thunder and heavy showers of hail.

Low clouds touching the ground surface cross the mountainous highlands, leading to the formation of fog and reduced horizontal visibility.

The effects of this air front will reach the eastern regions of the Kingdom in the form of intermittent rainfall, while the southern regions of the Kingdom will remain free from rainfall until the early hours of Tuesday.

This coincides with strong southwesterly winds, with severe gusts in some areas, and may lead to dust storms in desert regions.

Recommendations for tonight:

1) Be aware of the formation of strong torrents, large flow of valleys, and rising water levels in large areas of the north and center of the Kingdom.
2) Be aware of the risk of rockfalls on steep slopes.
3) Be aware of the danger of high wind speeds, some of which may reach speeds of more than 90 km/h, and reduce the speed of transport and large vehicles on external roads, and secure outdoor belongings.
4) Be aware of the risk of slipping on roads due to heavy hail falling over mountainous areas, especially the high ones.
5) The need to be aware of the risks of reduced horizontal visibility on mountain roads due to fog or heavy rainfall.
6) Observing the safe use of heating appliances.
7) Avoid crossing valleys even if the water level is not high.
