Türkiye records highest temperature in its climate records

Arab Weather - Turkey recorded record temperatures in several areas on July 25, with the highest being in the Silopi district of Şırnak province in the south of the country, at 50.5 degrees Celsius. This is the highest temperature ever recorded in Turkey, according to the country's climate records.

A strong heat wave is affecting southern Türkiye.

Arab Weather forecasters said that the record high temperatures in Turkey came after the country was hit by a severe heat wave that directly impacted southern regions due to the extension of a high-pressure system toward the region. This high pressure system was accompanied by an extremely hot air mass that surged across the northeastern Arabian Peninsula toward the region.

Meteorological stations recorded an unprecedented rise in temperatures, with high temperatures recorded at more than 132 stations across Turkey, exceeding 40°C in large areas of the country, with the highest reaching 50.5°C in Silopi.

Renewed fire outbreaks due to hot and dry weather

Record-breaking temperatures and dry soil conditions this summer have contributed to widespread fires in several regions, including Bursa, Mersin, Antalya, Uşak, and Belek, displacing thousands of people and declaring some areas disaster zones.
