Jeddah: Fohen winds will inflame the atmosphere tomorrow, and temperatures will approach 50 degrees Celsius.
Arab Weather - Meteorologists at Arab Weather have reiterated the possibility that Jeddah will be affected tomorrow, Monday, by dry, hot easterly winds, known globally as the Foehn winds. These winds are expected to cause a significant and sharp rise in temperatures, reaching up to 47 degrees Celsius.
How do Foehn winds affect Jeddah?
Arab weather experts interpret the "Fuhn winds" as easterly winds that sweep towards the west of the Kingdom, coming from extremely hot and dry desert regions, and then rush towards the mountains of Mecca, becoming increasingly hot and fiery as they cross the mountain slopes. They then reach the city of Jeddah, transforming its moderate weather into a scorching one, only to be broken by the entry of northwesterly winds coming in from the sea.
Signs of a break in the easterly winds starting Tuesday
The latest weather maps indicate that the easterly winds will begin to break starting Tuesday, with northwesterly winds expected to begin blowing across the region. This will contribute, God willing, to a relative drop in temperatures to around 40 degrees Celsius, and perhaps even slightly lower, and God knows best.
