Forest fires rage again in Türkiye, killing 10 firefighters and rescuers.

Arab Weather - Forest fires have once again erupted in Turkey, affecting various regions of the country. Some areas continue to be affected by high temperatures, dry conditions, and active winds, which have helped the fires spread quickly and made them difficult to control.

As the fires flared up again, the incident that occurred yesterday, Wednesday, July 23, was reported. Recent reports indicate that 10 firefighters and rescuers were killed while trying to contain a forest fire in Eskisehir province, including 5 forestry staff and 5 AKUT team members, in addition to 14 others being injured.

Factors that contributed to the renewed outbreak of fires

Türkiye has recently been experiencing a major weather paradox. Some regions are experiencing occasional weather disturbances and unstable conditions that cause heavy rainfall and flooding, while the southern and western parts of the country are experiencing dry and hot conditions.

The high temperatures in areas that receive no rainfall have helped dry out the soil, fueling forest fires. The occasional strong wind has exacerbated the situation and hampered firefighters' efforts to extinguish the blazes in a short time, which has helped them spread more rapidly.

Since late June, widespread forest fires have raged in Izmir province. More than 50,000 people have been evacuated from various areas, thousands of hectares of forest and farmland have been damaged, and two people (an 81-year-old man and a worker) have died near Ödemis. Although most of the fires were contained by July 4, the forest fires are still being reignited by high temperatures and strong winds.
