Arab and Islamic countries are observing the crescent moon of Shawwal (Eid al-Fitr) this evening.

Arab Weather - Today, the Arab and Islamic countries that began their fast on Wednesday, February 18, are observing the crescent moon of Shawwal 1447 AH after sunset to determine the beginning of Eid al-Fitr. These countries include: Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Somalia, Djibouti, Sudan, and Palestine.

On this day, the moon sets before the sun in most countries, therefore there will be no moon to be observed. Astronomical calculations also indicate that the birth of the crescent of the month of Shawwal (central conjunction) will occur on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 4:23 AM Saudi time, i.e., the day after the day of observation.

Accordingly, it is expected that Saudi Arabia and other countries will announce Thursday, March 19, as the completion of the month of Ramadan, and Friday, March 20, as the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
