Wood trees may help confront climate change in the American states

Weather of Arabia - The wondrous redwood tree has appeared in several American states, and the secret of this is due to its rapid growth and its ability to resist fires and absorb carbon gases, which makes it an excellent environmentally friendly option.

An acre of redwood trees were planted in Mason County, Washington, more than three decades ago, and they have grown more than twice as fast as their native neighbors, reaching about 130 feet tall. This tree continues to grow at a rapid pace, and is expected to surpass the rest of the neighboring trees in height within the next 30 years.

The Seattle Times newspaper indicated that the scientific name of this tree is “Sequoia sempervirens,” which means “survival.” It is considered among the oldest trees on Earth, as its thick, reddish bark is resistant to fire, rot, and insects, and also allows water to ascend to its huge trunks over the centuries.

Unlike most other conifer trees, cutting down a section causes new branches to grow in a tangled knot, with each branch competing to grow in the available space in an attempt to gain control.

Many people travel to see the natural range of these trees in Northern California. However, the new generation of redwood trees is not found in California, but rather located next to Hood Canal in Washington State.

Home to redwood trees

Redwood trees are found in Washington and Oregon, and when you visit Seattle, you can find coastal redwood trees and giant sequoia trees, which are also commonly known as redwood trees.

Some tree growers have begun to focus their activities on growing redwood trees commercially on small tracts. As climate change threatens the forests of Washington and Oregon with fires, drought and disease, some experts believe that planting coastal redwoods, which have a rapid ability to absorb carbon dioxide, will play a key role in the future of the Northwest's forests.

This can be achieved by intensively planting trees, directing their planting efforts towards urban parks, in addition to using them in forest replanting operations.

The Pacific Northwest, including western red cedars, has seen growth declines and diebacks in recent years, according to a report on the nonprofit news site Columbia Insight. Many of these developments have been linked to drought and rising temperatures on Earth.
