وكادت عجلات الطائرة التابعة للخطوط الجوية الإيطالية “أليتاليا” والقادمة من مدينة ميلان أن تلامس أرض المدرج قبل أن يحلق بها الطيار ثانية، حيث استطاع السيطرة عليها بعد أن أقلع بها إلى السماء وبدأ يحوم حول المطار في محاولة منه لتحين الفرصة المناسبة للهبوط ثانية.
وتشهد عدة مناطق في بريطانيا شتاء حافلاً بالعواصف والأمطار الغزيرة. آخرها "إيموجين" وتسببت بإغلاق خطوط المواصلات وإرباك حركة الطيران. وكانت هيئة الأرصاد البريطانية قد أصدرت 300 تحذير من فيضانات، تتطلب تحركات فورية في بعض المناطق الجنوبية الغربية والجنوبية الشرقية. كما أدت العاصفة إلى قطع الكهرباء عن نحو 15 ألف منزل في جنوب بريطانيا، وويلز بسبب الرياح العاتية والأمطار الغزيرة المصاحبة لها.
