After drying up completely last summer: Al-Wala Dam is coming back to life and is nearing full capacity with a storage capacity of 98.4%

The Secretary-General of the Jordan Valley Authority, Hisham Al-Hayseh, said on Wednesday that the recent weather depression had a positive impact on the amount of water stored in the dams and strengthened their strategic reserves.

Al-Hayseh added in a statement to “Al-Mamlaka” that the Wala Dam dealt with 11 million cubic meters of water on Tuesday, and its full storage capacity reached 98.4%, while the King Talal Dam dealt with 12 million cubic meters of water.

Al-Hayseh explained that the low-pressure system enhances the strategic reserves of dams, which contributes to meeting the needs of the agricultural sector in particular, in addition to supplying industrial companies.

Al-Hayseh pointed out that rainfall contributes to improving the soil and reducing irrigation periods, which alleviates the daily demand for water quantities.

Al-Hayseh said that all water facilities are operating efficiently and effectively, noting that 25 million cubic meters have been stored in dams, concentrated in the King Talal and Wala dams.

During an inspection tour, he added that the technical and operational teams are handling all facilities and dams with the highest degree of professionalism and responsibility, in terms of the technical procedures approved by the competent personnel, monitoring, operation and periodic maintenance work, and the safety procedures taken, to ensure the efficiency of all dams and their ability to accommodate the quantities of flowing water according to the approved engineering standards.

Al-Hayseh praised the efforts of the technical and engineering staff working at all sites, and their role in maintaining the safety and operational efficiency of water facilities.
