Arab Weather - The latest satellite images show that Tropical Cyclone Shakti is approaching the Omani coast, as it is only about 200 kilometers away, with expectations that it will continue moving west and southwest until this evening. Despite its great proximity, divine providence prevented its direct effects from reaching the Sultanate's coasts, as weather factors combined to repel the cyclone, and it will gradually move away, God willing, towards the central Arabian Sea.

Two main reasons behind the tropical cyclone's expected departure from the Sultanate's coasts

Scientifically speaking, the reason for the tropical cyclone's deviation and failure to reach Oman is the presence of a subtropical high centered over the Arabian Peninsula, which acts as an atmospheric barrier preventing the tropical cyclone from advancing toward land. The subtropical high is a powerful weather system with a high vertical extension that can act as a barrier to even hurricanes.

At the same time, an upper trough centered over Pakistan and Afghanistan will help pull the tropical system eastward toward the central Arabian Sea, further strengthening the cyclone's movement away from land. This interaction between the northern high and the eastern trough creates what meteorologists call "steering forces," which determine the eventual path of the tropical system.

Thus, although the cyclone was only 200 kilometers away from the coast, weather factors—by God’s grace—interacted to prevent it from reaching Oman directly, in a scene that combines divine mercy with scientific precision in interpreting weather phenomena.
