Strong thunderstorms are expected over eight Arab countries this weekend.

Arab Weather - The latest weather updates indicate that large parts of the Arab region will be affected by a state of atmospheric instability during the coming days , especially the weekend , with its effects including about 8 Arab countries, with chances of thunderstorms of varying intensity and active dust-raising winds.

In detail, the effects of the situation are expected to extend to parts of northern Egypt, including the Sinai Peninsula and some of the Red Sea highlands, in addition to most of the Levant region, namely Jordan, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon, with its extension towards Iraq.

The situation is also expected to affect parts of the Arabian Peninsula, especially Kuwait and parts of Saudi Arabia. According to the National Center for Meteorology, areas of Saudi Arabia are expected to be affected by these weather disturbances, with chances of thunderstorms and dust-raising winds in several regions of the Kingdom.

Thunderstorms at this time of year are sometimes accompanied by heavy rainfall within narrow geographical areas and for temporary periods of time, and may be accompanied locally by hail showers. They are also accompanied by strong downdrafts that may cause the formation of sandstorms, especially in desert areas.
