How did the 2003 snow storm form, and what were its effects?

Because of the presence of an air high on the middle and sides of the eastern European continent and a very cold air mass of polar origin over western Russia that rushed towards the eastern Mediterranean basin, it worked to form an air depression over the north of the island of Cyprus, and a strong snow storm affected the countries of the southern Levant region, That is, Jordan and Palestine. And it worked to completely paralyze the movement in the Jordanian capital, Amman, during which snow continued to fall for 48 hours straight, and it was a violent snow storm in a distinctive way, especially since it was during the period when people saw the end of winter and the approaching of spring.

And on February 24, 2003, heavy and continuous snow fell for three days in many parts of the capital Amman, and thus the accumulation of snow continued for several days, which led to a complete closure of the roads, and the weight of the accumulated snow caused the interruption of the electric current wires, and the fall of roofs from Metal tin over cars.

The local snow accumulation in some neighborhoods in the capital Amman reached more than a meter, in the Jabal Amman area 40 cm, and in the Ajloun Mountains 150 cm, while the Sharah Mountains and southern Jordan did not witness snow accumulation.
