طقس العرب- يعود سبب زيادة غزارة الأمطار في مرتفعات لواء الكورة في اربد في "جبل برقش" وجبل عجلون والتي تزيد عن 550 مليمتر سنويا مقارنة ببقية مناطق إقليم شمال الأردن، إلى أن ارتفاعها يزيد عن ألف متر فوق مستوى سطح البحر.
يُضاف إلى ذلك سبب آخر ؛ وهو أنهما يقابلان سهل مرج بن عامر في شمال فلسطين التاريخية هو مرج واسع بين منطقة جبال الجليل شمالًا وجبال نابلس جنوبا وساحل البحر الأبيض المتوسط غربا ونهر الأردن شرقًا ويبلغ طوله 45 كم وعرضه المتوسط 20 كم.
ويعتبر لواء الكورة وجبل عجلون بشكل عام والمنحدرات الغربية منهما بشكل خاص أكثر المناطق الواقعة بين نهري اليرموك والزرقاء مطراً؛ لارتفاعهما ومواجهتهما للرياح الغربية الممطرة القادمة من البحر الأبيض المتوسط وموقعها المباشر بمواجهة الفتحة الطبيعية لسهل مرج بن عامر في فلسطين، إذ تصل المؤثرات البحرية الشتوية هذه المناطق دون عائق طبيعي، الأمر الذي يزيد كمية الأمطار فيهما عن بقية مناطق الإقليم.
