Egypt: A Khamaseen depression will deepen the heat wave's impact on the country on Sunday (details)
Arab Weather - Meteorologists at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that the latest computer simulation results indicate that Egypt will be affected on Sunday by a Khamaseen low pressure system, the last day of the climatic season for this type of low pressure system. The system will be accompanied by a hot air mass and active winds, especially in the west of the country, which will stir up sand and cause a decrease in horizontal visibility, God willing.
Sunday: The Khamasin depression begins to affect the country - hot to very hot weather and stirred sand in the northwest of the country.
In detail, God willing, Egypt is expected to begin being affected on Sunday by a Khamaseen depression centered near the country, pushing hot air currents towards all regions of the country. Therefore, there will be a clear rise in temperatures, which will be higher than their average for this time of year by about 7-9 degrees Celsius. The weather will be hot on the north coast, and very hot to extremely hot in the rest of the regions, with maximum temperatures between the late thirties and early forties Celsius in a number of regions, including the capital, Cairo. The winds will be southwesterly and moderate in speed, accompanied by active gusts across the entire western region, specifically Matrouh Governorate, which will be laden with sand, leading to sandstorms and a decrease in horizontal visibility.
A Khamaseen depression will be centered in the north of the country on Sunday/Monday night, with warmer-than-usual weather at night, except for the coasts.
During the night hours of Sunday/Monday, the low pressure system will be centered in the northeast of the country before moving towards the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Therefore, there will be a rise in night temperatures, and the weather will be relatively hot to hot in various regions, with the exception of the northern coasts and the northwest of the country, as these areas will be affected by marine air currents after midnight, which will lower temperatures and create a moderate atmosphere. Wind speeds will also decrease, becoming moderate to light, sometimes active, with some dust particles remaining in the atmosphere, especially in the west of the country.
The heat wave will ease starting Monday, with temperatures dropping to the low 30s in Cairo.
According to the latest data received from weather maps, particularly those showing temperature trends, the maximum temperature in Greater Cairo will drop below 40°C after a long wait on Monday, with temperatures in the northern regions ranging between 30 and 34°C, while they will be between 24 and 27°C in the North Coast, including Alexandria. The weather will be suitable for summer vacations.
As for the rest of the southern regions, temperatures will remain within the high range, reaching the 40s Celsius range, especially in Aswan and its surrounding areas, amid extremely hot weather.
During the expected weather conditions, the Arab Weather Center recommends paying attention to the risks of increased dust levels in the atmosphere, as well as their impact on respiratory patients and horizontal visibility, especially in the west. It also recommends avoiding prolonged, direct exposure to sunlight.
And God knows best.
