A long-term low pressure system brings heavy rain and lightning to several Arab and foreign countries.

Arab Weather - Weather forecasts indicate a deep low pressure system will be centered across all atmospheric layers over southwestern Europe starting tonight, Sunday/Monday night, and will move very slowly eastward over the following days. This weather system is expected to continue for more than a week, making it a long-term weather phenomenon with widespread impact.

Colder than usual, stormy and rainy weather accompanies the low pressure system.

The depression is bringing colder-than-usual weather to large areas of southern Europe, accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong thunderstorms. Experts at the Arab Weather Center said that the slow-moving nature of the depression is increasing rainfall amounts due to prolonged rainfall, which increases the risk of local flooding in some low-lying and coastal areas. Heavy snow is also falling on mountain peaks, particularly in the Alps.

The low pressure system will move towards the central Mediterranean next week and will deepen in that region, affecting the Balkan countries and Turkey with stormy weather and heavy rain, God willing.

Strong effects of the low pressure system extend to the Maghreb countries.

The depression's influence is expected to extend to North Africa, particularly Algeria, Tunisia, and northern Morocco. Data indicate that a subtropical moisture wave rushing from the south toward the center of the depression will intensify the weather disturbances in these regions. As a result, Tunisia and northeastern Algeria are likely to experience the strongest impacts, with increased chances of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, large hail, and intense lightning activity.

The effects of the low pressure system, which began according to satellite images (updated Sunday 9/21/2025), are expected to continue for several days. Heavy rainfall is expected to continue for a long period of time, extending for several days this week, especially in northern Tunisia. This will increase the possibility of valleys flowing, torrents, and flooding, which will include many countries bordering the western Mediterranean.

It is noteworthy that the effects of the low pressure system will affect western Libya at the end of this week and the beginning of next week.
