A low pressure system and a cold air front are affecting eastern Türkiye, heading southeast. What about the Levant?
Arab Weather - The latest satellite imagery currently shows a cold air mass sweeping across the atmosphere, particularly the upper layers, coming from eastern Europe. It's settling over the Black Sea and Turkey, and a deep low pressure system is forming, bringing heavy rain and strong winds across several regions.
A low pressure system accompanied by strong weather fluctuations
Turkey will be affected by a rainy and stormy low-pressure system at the end of the week. With the formation of dense cumulus clouds carrying heavy rainfall, the risk of flash floods and the flow of valleys and ravines increases, in addition to the possibility of rock and landslides, especially in sloping areas due to waterlogging. Rain will also fall in the form of snow on the high mountain peaks in the northeast of the country, God willing.
Strong winds and rough seas in the Black Sea
The depression is accompanied by strong winds exceeding 80 km/h, leading to high waves and rough seas, especially in the Black Sea. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid sailing or approaching the coast during storm hours.
Storm effects on the Levant
Despite the strength of the depression, the weather forecasting team at the Arab Weather Center confirms that its effects will not extend to Jordan and the Levant, as the storm is moving northeast, away from the Kingdom and the region's coasts. However, the chances of scattered showers of rain continue along the coasts of Syria, Lebanon, and parts of Palestine due to the persistence of humid air currents.
And God knows best.
