Arab Weather - It is well known that the Earth follows a climatic cycle that results in the four seasons of the year: fall, winter, spring, and summer. These seasons alternate as a mercy from God Almighty, with neither permanent heat nor permanent cold, nor prolonged heat waves or continuous rain.

But is there really an area where it rains all year round?

Arab Weather's meteorologists answer this question by saying that there is indeed a region on Earth where rainfall occurs year-round, varying in intensity and for long periods of time. These are the regions located along the equator.

Despite the high temperatures and the concentration of hot air masses in these regions, several interconnected climatic and physical factors and causes contribute to rainfall in regions located on the equator throughout the year. We can summarize them as follows:

High temperature leads to continued evaporation process.

In tropical regions, the sun's rays are nearly vertical, which causes intense heating of the land and water bodies. This heating increases evaporation rates, which increases the amount of moisture in the air.

Rising humid air and condensation

The continuous heating of air in tropical regions increases evaporation and thus high humidity. As air gets hotter, its density decreases and it rises. Upon reaching the upper layers of the atmosphere, it cools and condenses. This process helps clouds form and rain falls.

Permanent low pressure around the equator

At the equator there is what is called the Intertropical Transcontinental Zone (ITCZ), which is an area where the trade winds coming from both hemispheres meet and in this area the air continues to rise, which enhances the formation of clouds and rain.

According to studies, the average number of rainy days in the equatorial region throughout the year ranges between 200 and 300 rainy days per year in most areas close to the equator. In some tropical areas, such as the Amazon rainforest, Indonesia, and the Congo, the number of rainy days may exceed 320 days per year.

But this does not necessarily mean heavy rain throughout the day, but rather short, intermittent showers, which is a very common pattern in tropical climates.
