Weather of Arabia - The city of Petra shone yesterday evening, Sunday, with the launch of the Petra Light Festival, which is the first digital art festival in Jordan, offering three-dimensional light shows in one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, to give visitors an exceptional experience.

The Petra Light Festival continues until the third of May, and aims to show the ancient city in an aesthetic and attractive way using modern technologies and through unique shows of light and sound. By illuminating the façade of Al-Khazneh, the most important landmark of the city, with designs by some of the most famous international visual artists from Jordan, France, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Turkey and Indonesia.

The festival also aims to honor and celebrate the rich Nabataean civilization by inviting visitors to discover it, as the festival moves away from popular perceptions of historical stories, and focuses on the culture of the Nabataeans, their rituals, and their enlightenment to the world, through the use of the art of digital three-dimensional drawing in a professional manner that does not harm or affect the archaeological site. At its launch, the festival included several attractive displays of colored lights to highlight the beauty of Petra, in addition to the sound experience in the Siq, followed by a 3D digital art drawing that was displayed on the safe, so that the 3D show lasts about 3 minutes, and the duration of the entire experience is 30 minutes.

The festival is part of a group of tourism projects that will be held in Petra to diversify its tourism product, including the fixed balloon (Petra Balloon), the air ferry, and the Petra Heritage Village Festival, which will start in May during the summer of this year.
