Important | A severe and exceptional rainy weather system will hit several Gulf countries at the end of the week, accompanied by strong lightning and hail.
Weather experts at Arab Weather predicted that many Gulf countries, especially the UAE and Oman, will be affected in the coming days by severe weather fluctuations and the formation of exceptionally strong "supercell" thunderstorms, leading to very heavy rainfall, sometimes heavy hail, and strong winds, amid real risks of flash floods and rising water levels. Thunderstorms will also include, God willing, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.
Accompanied by heavy rain and lightning
A cold front will cross Kuwait's skies on Thursday afternoon.
The effects of the weather system in Kuwait will begin on Thursday morning, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and scattered showers.
During the afternoon hours, a cold front will cross Kuwait's skies, leading to a significant increase in cloud cover and intensifying rainfall, sometimes becoming heavy to very heavy, accompanied by significant lightning, thunder, and thunderstorms, hail showers, and strong downdrafts in some areas.
Rapid move towards Qatar and Bahrain on Thursday night
During the night hours of Thursday, the cold front will move rapidly across the warm waters of the Arabian Gulf towards Qatar and Bahrain, where heavy thunderstorms will resume, accompanied by lightning, thunder, and possibly hail. Winds will also become very active in conjunction with the development of the thunderclouds.
Severe weather disturbances in the UAE and Oman
Superstorms accompanied by strong winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall
As the cold front continues to move over the warm waters of the Arabian Gulf and collides with a warm, moisture-laden air mass, supercell thunderstorms are expected to develop, impacting large parts of the UAE.
The effects include major cities such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, in addition to the city of Al Ain.
The weather system will reach its peak on Thursday night and Friday morning, with rare weather phenomena expected, including:
- Waterfalls
- Tornadoes
- strong downdrafts
- Heavy hail showers
Then the effects will extend on Friday to the Sultanate of Oman, including Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, Ash Sharqiyah, Al Batinah, reaching Muscat.
Widespread rain in Saudi Arabia until the end of the week
In Saudi Arabia, the National Center for Meteorology warned that the outputs of the numerical model indicate continued chances of moderate to heavy rainfall across most regions of the Kingdom until the end of the week.
The situation is expected to affect the following areas:
Tabuk, Al-Jawf, Northern Borders, Hafr Al-Batin, Hail, Al-Qassim, Riyadh, Eastern Province, in addition to Makkah, Asir, Al-Baha and Jazan.
These rains are accompanied by lightning and thunder activity, and hail showers in several areas.
And God knows best.
