The European Football Championship 2020 will be held across the European continent for the first time in the competition's 60-year history, with 11 European cities hosting.

1. City of London - England : Wembley Stadium

The final and semi-final will take place, a round of 16 matches, and three group matches

2. Saint Petersburg - Russia: Saint Petersburg Stadium

It will take place in: Six group matches, quarter-finals

3. Baku - Azerbaijan: Baku Olympic Stadium
4. Munich - Germany: the football stadium in Munich
5. Rome - Italy: Olympico in Rome

There will be three group matches, one in the quarter-finals

There will be three group matches, one round of 16 matches

Tournament format

The format will be the same for UEFA EURO 2016. The top two in each of the six final tournament groups will advance to the Round of 16 along with the four best third-placed teams.

Will the host countries' teams play at home?

The opening match will take place in Rome, and the automatically qualified host nations are placed in the following groups:

• Group A: Italy (Olympico in Rome )*

• Group B: Russia (St. Petersburg Stadium) - Denmark (Parkin Stadium in Copenhagen )*

• Group C: Netherlands (Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam )*

• Group D: England (Wembley Stadium in London ) * - Scotland (Hampden Park in Glasgow )

• Group E: Spain (La Cartuja Seville, Seville )*

• Group F: Germany (Fosball Arena Munich, Munich ) * - Hungary (Ferenc Puskas Stadium, Budapest )

*Guaranteed to play all three group stage matches at home after qualifying through the European Qualifiers. With Russia and Denmark both reaching UEFA EURO 2020 via the European Qualifiers, an additional draw was held on 22 November 2019 to determine the team that will play all three group stage matches at home; Denmark will play three home games, and Russia's two matches.

Team Qualification

Twenty teams - the two best teams in each of the ten groups - made it to the tournament via the European Qualifiers, running from March to November 2019.

Four other nations qualified through the play-offs held on October 8 (semi-finals) and November 12 (finals).

The semi-finals were confirmed by a separate draw in Nyon on November 22, 2019 and were held on October 8, 2020:

• Track 1: Iceland 2-1 Romania - Bulgaria 1-3 Hungary
• Track 2: Bosnia and Herzegovina 1-1 Northern Ireland (under 3-4 pens), Slovakia 0-0 Republic of Ireland (4-2 pens).
• Track C: Scotland 0-0 Israel (under 5-3), Norway 1-2 Serbia
• Track D: Georgia 1-0 Belarus, North Macedonia 2-1 Kosovo

The finalists were held on November 12:

• Track 1: Hungary 2-1 Iceland
• Track B: Northern Ireland 1-2 Slovakia
• Track C: Scotland 1-1 Serbia (pens: 4-5)
• Track D: Georgia 0-1 North Macedonia
