Saudi Arabia: Meteorology Department identifies 5 regions expected to experience rain and lightning on Tuesday, May 12, 2026

Weather specialists at the National Center for Meteorology expect five regions to be affected today by unstable weather conditions, with the formation of cumulonimbus clouds during the afternoon and evening hours over parts of the Makkah, Madinah, Al-Baha, Asir and Jazan regions, accompanied by rainfall of varying intensity, thunder, lightning and hail showers, in addition to a noticeable increase in surface wind speed that may stir up dust and sand at times.

Areas covered by warnings and rain forecasts for Tuesday, May 12, 2026:

Makkah Region:

Orange alert: Maysan, Taif,

Yellow alert: Full, I'm joining

Al-Baha region:

Yellow alert: Al-Baha, Al-Aqiq, Al-Qura, Al-Mandaq, Baljurashi, Bani Hassan.

Asir region:

Orange alert: Abha, Ahad Rafidah, Khamis Mushait, Al-Harjah, Al-Rabou'ah, Sarat Abidah, Al-Farsha, Dhahran Al-Janoub, Rijal Alma, Mahayil.

Yellow alert: Bariq, Al Majardah, Al Namas, Balqarn, Tanomah.

Jazan region:

Yellow alert: Al-Harth, Al-Da'ir, Al-Raith, Al-Ardah, Al-Aydabi, Fifa, Haroub

Madinah region

Yellow alert: Mahd, Al-Hanakiya

Recommendations:

• Avoid crossing valleys and torrents.
• Be aware of the dangers of lightning strikes.
• Compliance with the instructions and guidelines of the competent authorities.
