Arab Weather - Experts at the Arab Weather Regional Center are monitoring growing indications of a surge of tropical humidity and water vapor toward the southwestern part of the Kingdom in early August. These highs will fuel the formation of powerful thunderstorms in those regions.

Thunderstorms are expected to return extensively for the first time this summer.

In detail, experts at the Arab Weather Regional Center predict that drastic changes will occur in weather systems during the first days of next August, as a result of the subtropical high pressure system shifting northward. This will allow the tropical divide line to advance further upward, pushing tropical humidity across the entire southwestern and western sectors of the Kingdom.

From Jazan to Mecca, Taif and Medina

Cumulonimbus clouds are expected to increase in the skies over Jazan, Asir, Al Bahah, and Taif. Rain is expected, God willing, in these regions, accompanied by hail showers and occasional downward winds, with a high chance of flash floods and valleys.

Arab Weather is monitoring the high probability that Mecca and the holy sites will be affected by these weather disturbances, which could make them vulnerable to rainfall in the coming days. Some of these clouds may extend toward Jeddah, affecting it either in the form of downward winds that stir up dust, or in the form of scattered thunderstorms and rain.
