Small dust particles that traveled thousands of kilometers across the Mediterranean Sea covered the roofs of cars and buildings, as well as turning the sky to orange hues, and visibility decreased in large parts of Spain, until dust mixed with rain to produce mud.

The African dust-rich storm is also expected to bring more rain over the coming days to the dry fields of Spain.

The dust that reached Europe from the desert on Tuesday, the national weather service, MeteoSwiss, said is the third event recorded this year but the most intense, with meteorologists predicting that the sky will remain colorful for several days.

And in Belgrade, which is already one of the most polluted capitals in Europe due to Serbia's coal-fired factories and power plants, "hazardous" air quality has been recorded, as a result of the dust cloud, in addition to Serbia's chronic pollution problems.

The dust cloud also reached London and southeast England on Wednesday, and some dust settled on building windows and car windshields as the rain deposited dust particles at ground level.
