Weather fluctuations, rain, and lightning in 12 Arab countries this week
Arab Weather - Meteorologists at Arab Weather expect several Arab countries to be affected by weather fluctuations accompanied by rainfall of varying intensity this week, including parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, the Sultanate of Oman, Sudan, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, in addition to Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan. Details are as follows:
Tropical Storm Shakti
It continues to advance towards the Sultanate of Oman and may develop into a hurricane.
In detail, it is expected that the tropical storm (Shakti) will continue moving towards the southwest to approach the coasts of the Sultanate, with the possibility of developing into a first-degree hurricane. The center of the tropical case is expected to be (200-300 km) away from the coasts of the Sultanate of Oman on Sunday, before the gradual deviation of the case’s path to the east towards the Himalayas, starting from Sunday evening until Monday morning, with the gradual decrease and weakening of the tropical case.
The tropical condition (Shakti) is accompanied by indirect effects on the Sultanate of Oman, including the flow of clouds over the coastal areas of the South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta Governorates, which may lead to variable rainfall with limited wave height (3-5 meters) and the extension of sea water in low-lying areas and creeks, coinciding with periods of high tide on the coasts of the South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Al Wusta Governorates.
Continued chances of seasonal rains
Accompanied by lightning and thunder in the highlands of southwestern Saudi Arabia and Yemen
Meteorologists, via the Arab Weather app, predict that seasonal clouds will continue to accumulate over the highlands of Jazan and Asir in southwestern Saudi Arabia during the afternoon and evening hours daily. There's a chance of rain showers in some areas, accompanied by lightning and thunder.
Forecasts also indicate renewed chances of seasonal rains in the western mountains of Yemen, as tropical moisture continues to flow into the region. Cumulus clouds will form, and showers of varying intensity will fall, accompanied by lightning, thunder, and lightning strikes. This calls for caution and vigilance.
Less heavy and more widespread rain
Declining severity of weather fluctuations in southern and central Sudan
Following the wave of heavy rains and floods that hit parts of southern and central Sudan over the past few weeks, the latest weather forecasts indicate a decrease in the intensity of rainfall over the coming week, becoming more normal, accompanied by occasional heavy showers, accompanied by lightning and thunder.
A low pressure system is moving across the Mediterranean Sea.
It brings rain to parts of the North African coast and the Levant.
Gradually, during the week, the low pressure system located to the west of Europe will move eastward to center over Greece and will have a limited impact on parts of the coasts of Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, which are expected to witness showers of rain between Sunday and Tuesday, and later, at the end of the week, it will affect parts of Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, in the form of showers of rain accompanied by lightning and thunder at times, while the chances of rain are more limited in the country, and God knows best.
