ويعتبر المغرب من بين الدول التي شهدت هذه الظاهرة حيث تمت رؤية جميع مراحله عكس بعض دول المنطقة العربية التي غرب فيها القمر مخسوفا.

 

وما ميز هذا الخسوف أن القمر البدر سيكون عملاقاً (Super moon) وذلك بسبب كونه في نقطة الحضيض أي في أقرب مسافة له من الأرض وعلى بعد 357000 كم تقريباً, واستمر الخسوف في شكله الكلي ساعة ودقيقتين(62 دقيقة).
