A deep Khamsin low-pressure system is approaching the eastern Mediterranean and causing significant weather changes in several Arab countries.

Arab Weather - Arab Weather satellite images show a deep Khamsin low-pressure system positioned northeast of Libyan territory, which leads to strong winds causing sandstorms over large parts of eastern Libya, in addition to the western regions of Egypt.

It is expected that during the next 48 hours, i.e., Friday and Saturday, this Khamsin low-pressure system will gradually move towards the waters of the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea, to get closer to the atmosphere of the region during the next two days. According to the data, this low-pressure system is expected to contribute to the development of unstable weather conditions affecting parts of Egypt and the Levant, including Jordan, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon, in addition to Iraq and several areas of the Arabian Peninsula.

This situation is characterized by high levels of dust in the atmosphere, leading to dusty, hot, dry conditions in many areas, coinciding with an increased chance of the formation of cumulonimbus clouds that may be accompanied by rainfall of varying intensity, sometimes heavy in narrow geographical areas, and accompanied by hail showers, which may lead to the flow of valleys and a rise in water levels in some areas.

These thunderclouds are also characterized by sudden strong winds, which may cause sandstorms in several areas of the Levant, Iraq and the Arabian Peninsula, leading to a significant decrease in horizontal visibility, and perhaps its complete absence at times.
