Arab Weather - Computer maps at the Arab Weather Center indicate that the first rainstorm is expected to form in the Mediterranean region, specifically the central part, during the first days of October, God willing. The weather system will bring heavy rainfall to the southern Balkans, and its effects will extend to some Arab countries.
In detail, it is expected, God willing, that a strong high pressure system will be centered to the west of the European continent, which will lead to an early wave of the polar jet stream and its deepening towards the Mediterranean region. As a result, a very cold air mass will rush towards the warm sea waters that were suffering from heat during the summer. As a result, a low pressure system will form to the west of the Italian islands on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, and will move quickly towards the central Mediterranean Sea, where it will then deepen in that region (Wednesday/Thursday night and Thursday day), turning into the first winter storm in the Mediterranean region for this season.
This weather system is expected to affect the Balkan countries, specifically Greece, Bulgaria, and Macedonia, and will be accompanied by several cold air fronts bringing dense thunderclouds, heavy rain, and severe thunderstorms. This type of weather (a combination of autumn and winter characteristics) is usually accompanied by strong ascending air currents, producing towering thunderclouds accompanied by heavy rain, thunderstorms, and exceptional hailstorms accompanied by large, intense, and successive hailstones. This increases the risk of flash floods in many areas.
By the end of the week, the weather system (low pressure system) is expected to move northeast, affecting Romania and western Türkiye with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hail, God willing.
Weather forecasts indicate that the effects of a deep low pressure system in the central Mediterranean will bring strong winds with gusts exceeding 100 km/h, significantly disrupting maritime traffic. Waves are expected to rise to approximately 4 meters, which could pose a threat to fishing activities and seaports in the region.
In this regard, meteorologists at the Arab Weather Center said that the effects of the rainy conditions in the Mediterranean extend to some Arab countries indirectly, but not with the same intensity as they will in the Balkan countries. The following is a timeline of the areas affected by the rain and the Arab countries affected:
Wednesday, October 1, 2025: The effects of the low pressure system beginning to form in western Italy extend to northern Algeria and northern Tunisia, with temperatures dropping and thunderstorms, sometimes heavy, that could lead to pools of water and flash floods.
Thursday, October 2, 2025: As the low pressure system moves and deepens in the central Mediterranean, the ends of the cold air front extend to northern Libya, where rain clouds multiply and showers fall in several areas, accompanied by lightning and thunder at times, coinciding with a drop in temperatures, active winds, and turbulent waves along the northern coast.
Some rain clouds are also likely to form in northwestern Egypt, specifically north of Matrouh Governorate, leading to showers.
As for the Levant region, according to weather maps, the weather system in the central Mediterranean will once again push in a relatively hot air mass with summer characteristics, which will push temperatures upward starting Friday. The weather will then return to relatively hot to hot conditions across the region.
And God knows best.
