Arab Weather - A study showed that the symptoms of hay fever such as itching, watering eyes, sneezing and runny nose are worse during the spring season than in the summer even when the pollen count is equal.

In the study, researchers compared the number of pollen per day during the hay fever seasons during the 2007 and 2008 seasons and the daily symptoms of fever in the infected.

Patients were also tested for other common allergies including pollen, house dust mites, dogs and cats.

The researchers found that the symptoms of hay fever matched the concentration of pollen in the air as well as the amount of medicine taken by the patients. .

However, the symptoms of hay fever were worse during the spring than in the summer for the same amount of pollen.

It is possible that those suffering from hay fever symptoms are milder later in the season due to familiarity with hay fever or that the pollen from late-season blooms is less sensitive to pollen early in the season.

Other studies have suggested that high exposure to pollen early in the season may reduce inflammation to any subsequent exposure to pollen by producing regulatory T cells for a specific allergy.
