Jordan: Temperatures exceeded 40°C for seven consecutive days for the first time since records began during the August 2025 heatwave.

Arab Weather - The Jordanian capital, Amman, witnessed an unprecedented weather event this summer, with maximum temperatures consistently exceeding 40°C for seven consecutive days, setting a new record in the city's climate records.

According to previous climate records, Amman has never witnessed temperatures above 40°C for more than three consecutive days, as occurred during the intense heat wave of 2010 and the one in 2023. Therefore, the persistence of these hot conditions for seven consecutive days is classified as "an unprecedented climate event in the capital's history."

The reason for the high temperatures to persist for several days is due to the presence of a heat dome over the region, a weather phenomenon that traps hot air for several days in a row, raising temperatures to record levels and keeping them high for extended periods without interruption.

Arab Weather experts confirm that the recurrence of such events indicates changing weather and climate patterns in the region, with heat waves becoming longer and more extreme than usual, impacting public health, agriculture, and water and energy consumption.
