و سبب هطول هذه الأمطار هو إقتراب مُنخفض جوي ضعيف من شمال تركيا يؤثر على العراق يوم الخميس مُسبباً إنخفاض على درجات الحرارة في شمال و وسط العراق و هطول زخات أمطار محلية في المُحافظات الشمالية.
