وتسببت العواصف الرعدية في توقف مهرجان موسيقي بوقت مبكر، إضافة ووقف اللعب في بطولة الولايات المتحدة المفتوحة للتنس والمقامة في نيويورك.

 

وأوضحت لورين ناش خبيرة الأرصاد الجوية في الهيئة القومية للطقس بأن الطقس السيء اجتاح منطقة العاصمة سريعاً بعد الظهر، فقد أصاب البرق شجرة بالقرب من شاطىء أورتشارد في برونكس ما أدى إلى إصابة شخصين كانا يقفان تحتها، ونقلا إلى مركز جاكوبي الطبي، إلاّ أن المتحدثة باسم المستشفى رفضت التعليق على حالتيهما.

 

وأكد موقع "فلايت أوير دوت كوم" أن الأمطار الغزيرة والرياح القوية تسببت في تأخير في جميع المطارات الموجودة في منطقة العاصمة في نيويورك بالإضافة إلى مطار فيلادلفيا.
