A statement issued by the Ministry of Works regarding the slide on the Jerash road

Arab Weather - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing said that it has been following up for several weeks the presence of cracks in one of the sites on Jerash Amman Road, and that it was, through the slippage committee formed in the National Building Council, to conduct a study of the site in cooperation with one of the specialized engineering consultancy offices. The necessary treatment at the site through a special tender for this purpose. Coordination has also been made with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation to transfer a main water line that passes through the work area.

The ministry said that the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Eng. Yahya Al-Kasbi, inspected the site on Friday during an inspection tour, where it was found that as a result of the quantities of rain that the area witnessed in the past days, some cracks occurred in the dirt area on the edge of the street, and it was decided based on it and as a precaution for the purposes of ensuring public safety to close The traffic lane coming from Jerash towards Amman and diverting traffic to the city of Jerash to enable the contractor to operate smoothly and easily and allow him to accelerate the pace of work.

The Ministry notes that the cracks on the side of the road are shallow and do not pose a threat to the road occupants, and that closing the lane is a precaution and aims to preserve the safety of citizens and the safety of their vehicles.

The Minister of Works has instructed the contractor to intensify the work to complete the treatment works as soon as possible, with the need to reinforce this part with elements of traffic safety such as warning and guiding signals, reduce the speed allowed in this area, and set up a security patrol around the clock in the area.

Minister Al-Kasbi, accompanied by the Governor of Jerash and a number of Ministry officials, inspected the site to check on the progress of work on it, stressing the importance of working around the clock to complete the required work in the shortest possible time.

The Ministry stated that, in coordination with the Central Traffic Department in the Public Security Directorate, the traffic coming from the city of Irbid towards Amman to the city of Jerash will be transferred to the southern entrance to Jerash. As for the traffic coming from Amman towards the city of Irbid, it will follow the same road until eight in the evening, after which it will be closed The road is diverted from the southern entrance to Jerash to the city of Jerash, up to the northern entrance to Jerash.
