  • تم تغيير مسافة سباق الماراثون في أولمبياد لندن عام  1908 من قبل الأسرة الملكية البريطانية حيث كانت نقطة الانطلاق  من القصر الملكي إلى الملعب الأولمبي، وبلغت مسافته 26 ميلا و385 ياردة أي ما يعادل 42.195 كم. وهي المسافة الحالية لسباق الماراثون.
