موقع ArabiaWeather.com- تراجع انتاج الذرة في جنوب أفريقيا إلى الثلث خلال العام الحالي مقارنة بالعام الماضي 2014؛ بسبب الجفاف الشديد ونقص الأمطار؛ مما يهدد بنقص الغذاء في المنطقة خلال الشهور القليلة المقبلة.

 

وأكد برنامج الأغذية العالمي، التابع للأمم المتحدة، أن تقديرات انتاج الذرة في جنوب افريقيا تشير بأن العام الحالي هو الأسوأ منذ 8 سنوات،

 

وبين البرنامج أن تأثيرات الجفاف في الجنوب الأفريقي ستمتد إلى جنوب انجولا وناميبيا وبوتسوانا وزيمبابوي وليسوتو ومالي ومدغشقر؛ كونه ينتج أكثر من 40% من الذرة في المنطقة.

 

وبين أن  دول المنطقة ستلجأ إلى زيادة الواردات لسد النقص في انتاجها المحلي؛  مما يرفع تكاليف المواد الغذائية.
