ويعود سبب الحالة الجوية إلى تواجد كتلة هوائية باردة شمال الجزيرة العربية تتزامن مع تدفق هواء سطحي دافئ عبر الجنوب محمل بكميات جيدة من الرطوبة النسبية في طبقات الجو المتوسطة والقريبة من سطح الأرض.
