Passengers on a flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Antalya, Turkey, experienced difficult moments after the air conditioning system inside the plane malfunctioned while it was on the runway, causing the temperature inside the cabin to rise to about 56 degrees Celsius.
According to details of the incident, the passengers remained inside the plane for about two hours before takeoff, amidst a stifling atmosphere and a severe rise in temperature inside the cabin as a result of the complete shutdown of the cooling systems, which caused a state of exhaustion, suffocation and fainting among the passengers, especially children and the elderly.

Modern aircraft rely on continuous ventilation and air conditioning systems to maintain a stable cabin environment while on the ground. When these systems shut down, the temperature begins to rise rapidly as a result:
The airplane cabin is a semi-enclosed environment, and when ventilation and cooling are stopped, heat gradually accumulates without an effective mechanism for dissipation or cooling.
With a large number of passengers in a limited space, and high outside temperatures on the airport floor, the cabin temperature can exceed 50 degrees Celsius in a short time, and in some cases reach stifling levels such as 56 degrees Celsius, as happened in this incident.
Passengers reported that the atmosphere inside the plane turned into a stressful experience, with an increasing feeling of suffocation and heat, while children were the most affected due to their weak ability to tolerate high temperatures.
Cases of general fatigue and exhaustion were recorded as a result of prolonged stays inside the cabin without effective cooling.
This incident highlights the importance of air conditioning and ventilation systems as an essential part of the air safety system, and not just as a comfort element, especially during waiting periods on the ground.
It also raises questions about airlines' procedures for dealing with technical malfunctions, and the need to reduce the time passengers spend inside aircraft when there is a malfunction in the cooling systems.
