Weather of Arabia - The presence of an island that appeared as a "black spot" on Google Maps aroused a lot of mystery when its image spread on social media, as it appeared to be a black hole in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, in the region between Australia and the west coast of the United States.
Some said that it is a black hole that swallows everyone who approaches it, and the other indicated that it is a secret or military project and that Google may be hiding its truth, and some of them compare it to the Bermuda Triangle.
The spot was nothing but a deserted island called Vostok Island, but its appearance in black helped to weave many legends around it, and strange theories were woven around it, including that it is a huge drainage hole through which ocean water flows into the ground. Or it is an entity like a black hole in which everything that reaches it disappears.
In fact, the island of "Vostok" belongs to the Republic of Kiribati, which is an "archipelago" (a close group of islands), and because it is a triangular island, people compare it to the famous Bermuda Triangle in the Atlantic Ocean.
The length of "Vostok" island is about 700 meters, its width is about 600, and it rises no more than five meters above sea level, and it is surrounded by coral reefs.
The reason it appears black on Google Maps is because the island has a lot of dense forests made up of trees, the trees are dark green - but it looks black from the air and that's why on Google Maps it looked like a "black hole"!
